Chie Shinohara's Red River: Everything You Need to Know About the Upcoming Anime Adaptation (2026)

Tatsunoko Production announced a TV anime adaptation of Chie Shinohara's Red River manga, which will debut this summer. The announcement was accompanied by an illustration drawn by Shinohara herself. Kōsuke Kobayashi is directing the anime, with Yoriko Tomita overseeing the series scripts and Kenji Fujisaki designing the characters. The anime will be produced by Tatsunoko Production. Historical researchers include Kimiyoshi Matsumura and Daisuke Yoshida, who are members of the Japanese Institute of Anatolian Archaeology as part of the Middle Eastern Culture Center in Japan. Viz Media released the manga in English in 2004 and re-released it in 3-in-1 omnibus editions in October 2024. The manga inspired a stage play by the Takarazuka Revue troupe in 2018.
