Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi's office confirmed that Lee was on his way to California to participate in the second of four Giants' FanFest events, scheduled for Saturday in San Ramon. Pelosi, along with the Giants organization, congressional partners, and federal liaisons, worked behind the scenes to resolve the issue.
"Today, Jung Hoo Lee experienced a brief travel delay at LAX due to a paperwork issue," the Giants stated. "The matter was promptly addressed with the relevant authorities, and he has since been given the green light to continue his journey. We extend our gratitude to all parties involved for their professionalism."
Lee, 27, is entering his third season with the Giants after signing a lucrative six-year, $113 million contract in December 2023. His batting average of .265 over two seasons, with 10 home runs and 63 RBIs in 187 games, showcases his talent. Despite missing most of his rookie year in 2024 due to a shoulder injury, he bounced back strongly in 2025, playing in 150 games.
In early January, the Giants sent a delegation to South Korea, including President of Baseball Operations Buster Posey, CEO Larry Baer, and Manager Tony Vitello. The purpose of this trip was to promote the organization and celebrate Lee's Korean heritage.
